Use the Internet as a business-building tool…

The Internet has opened up the world for individuals and businesses alike.  Increasingly businesses are utilizing web-based technologies designed for individual use as tools to aid in a business building setting.

Social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook began as portals for people to share their lives with others even if face-to-face interaction was difficult due to distance or some other obstacle.  Individuals could create profiles and share pictures, links, updates, videos, and so on.

More and more businesses are creating profiles on MySpace and Facebook to share details of their businesses with customers and to reach potential customers all over the world.

Newer technologies such as Twitter are also being employed by small and large businesses alike.  Twitter also allows individuals and companies to create profiles.  Users post updates online, using a web-enabled phone, or by text messaging.

The updates appear on their Twitter site as well as other pages enabled with a connection to Twitter accounts.  But the really cool thing is you can also choose to “follow” other users and receive their updates in real time…

Businesses can send out updates with links, information about products or services, updates on sales…virtually anything that can be conveyed in 140 characters or less.

These are just a few of the myriad Internet offerings that both individuals and businesses can use to reach the audience they want to communicate with.  The Internet is amazingly effective in a business-building context.  With the right guidance you can build your business by taking advantage of what the Internet has to offer.
