It’s not about the money with social entrepreneurship

Our generation has made tremendous strides in creating a global community.  In a global community, individuals across the world take responsibility for making the world a better place.  An entrepreneur who identifies a need in the social realm rather than the business world and works to fulfill that need is part of a new breed known as social entrepreneurs.

In his book How to Change the World: Social Entrepreneurs and the Power of New Ideas, David Bornstein says, “Social entrepreneurs identify resources where people only see problems…(and) begin with the assumption of competence and unleash resources in the communities they’re serving.”

The social entrepreneur’s goal is not profit, but social change.  They work on small scales with immediate results and also identify and solve large-scale social problems.  The same qualities that make a business entrepreneur successful make a social entrepreneur the agent of change they strive to be.

Do you have a vision for change?  Whether it is your neighborhood, your city, or the world the skills required to affect change in these venues can be learned.  Find a place to establish your entrepreneurial spirit and enlist the help of someone to hone your skills…become the revolutionary necessary to change the world…
