Small business strategy is worth the effort
Strategic planning is hard for small businesses to do. Most small business owners do no strategic planning prior to starting their business. Small businesses are not forced by investors to create a business strategy beyond what is necessary to fund and organize their initial start-up operations.
However, once a small business is up and running it is even harder to take a step back and focus on the future. With fewer hands on deck, everyone is focused on making things happen NOW. Planning for the future takes a back seat.
Before you know it you are completely occupied with putting out fires, creating a reactionary model with no room for planning or forward thinking. With no strategy in place you move forward with no clear direction.
If you are disciplined enough to focus on small business strategy early, your direction is more clearly defined when everyone is occupied with building your business. When everything is done with a specific strategy in mind, growth occurs more smoothly.
Small business strategy is worth the effort in the long run. Take the time to plan strategically or find someone to help you create a strategy that will work for your small business.
