Nouveaux Riches: No Longer the Old Money Stigma

In earlier days, many held the view that people would and should remain within the socio-economic class they were born into.  Nouveaux riches was a derogatory term used by wealthy people of “old money” to describe those who were rich, but whose families’ previous generations were of much lower financial status.

Fortunately, today, the positive trend is to not allow yourself to be held back or intimidated by where you came from. The dictionary definition of nouveau rich is simply a person who is newly rich; no disrespect for your family’s socio-economic status is included.

Who are today’s nouveaux riches?  Entrepreneurs!

The exclusive Forbes 400 (list of the richest people in America) is increasingly populated by those who have created a business, product, or technology.

Entrepreneurial qualities, such as having a vision, desire, and the drive to succeed, are now valued qualities of business.

It has also been noted, in Inc., that these nouveau riche entrepreneurs are not resting on their laurels, but eagerly continue to start other businesses, and non-profit foundations.

There is no stigma in having a vision, aspiring to be the best, having the determination and commitment to make it, no matter what.  Today’s nouveaux riches are entrepreneurs.  Regardless of what situation you were born into, your entrepreneurial spirit can lead you to success.
