Women Entrepreneur Qualities and Successes Encourage Future Generations
Looking at the make-up of businesses today, it’s sometimes hard to envision a time when women didn’t play a major role in running things, a time when women entrepreneur success wasn’t even imaginable.
According to a recent report by The Center for Women’s Business Research, women currently own 20% of firms with revenues exceeding $1 million. Additionally, new numbers for 2008 show that women-owned firms comprise forty percent of all firms.
"Despite challenges to our economy, we are pleased to see that women-owned firms continued to hold their own," said Margaret A. Smith, Chair, The Center for Women's Business Research.
Although many women have had to endure discrimination throughout history for advancements in the business world, they have continued to log their accomplishments into history.
Women such as Maggie Lena Walker, first woman bank president, Elizabeth Arden, advertising and marketing technique pioneer, Suze Orman, internationally acclaimed personal finance expert, are just a few of many inspirational models of women entrepreneur success.
Despite difficult economic times, what makes the rising trend of successful women entrepreneurs so encouraging is that most women seem to innately possess entrepreneurial traits, as shown in the table below:
