Is There Any Hope for Economic Prosperity?

Prosperity, in relationship to economic conditions, is defined as an economic state of growth with rising profits and full employment.

So, with profits declining and unemployment levels on the rise, it’s hard to see how economic prosperity can be possible.

And yet, while a struggling economy affects everyone in some way, you don’t have to be victim to the hopeless outlook for the future.

Improvements in the economy can actually be driven by entrepreneurs as creation of new businesses and products can spur economic growth by increasing profits and employment.

"The American economy is built on the backs of entrepreneurs,” says Larry Haynes, Americas Director of the Ernst & Young LLP Entrepreneur of the Year program

Entrepreneurs contribute to and bolster the U.S. economy by creating jobs and improving local communities.  Most entrepreneurs are not daunted by the current downturn of the economy.

The experienced entrepreneur has learned that not every new idea leads to success, and what worked before, may not work now.  Business and marketing strategies are continually evolving.

Industries, such as the American automobile industry, are in serious financial turmoil because of refusal to adapt product or business models to the ever-changing environment.

Mary Tripsas, of the Entrepreneurial Management unit at Harvard Business School, says, “For the most part you will find that startup companies are unencumbered by previous mental models of what an industry is or should be, and so you're likely to see much more creativity in their definition, if you will, of a new market.”

While it takes hard work to develop your vision into a working business, in order to achieve success, you must take action.  Not only can your business contribute to your own economic prosperity, but you are doing your part to help the national economy as well.
