What are the effects of the current economic downturn on entrepreneurship?

According to a recent survey of 600 small business owners, almost 90% said that despite the challenging economy, they would rather start their own business than work for someone else.
In fact, many entrepreneurial success stories rise out of difficult situations. Entrepreneurs have the drive to pursue their vision or to see the potential in every situation, good or bad.
The entrepreneurial spirit not only motivates a person to succeed, but opens his eyes to opportunities…
Opportunity is defined as a “Fit or convenient time; a time or place favorable for executing a purpose; a suitable combination of conditions; suitable occasion; chance.”
With a purpose in mind, entrepreneurship enables the continued pursuit of success, despite previous failure or challenging economic circumstances.
Entrepreneurship is very much like optimism, except instead of necessarily looking for the good in everything, the entrepreneur is keyed in to the opportunity in everything…
