Teen Entrepreneurship: More Accessible than Ever

Age is not such a surprise factor anymore when it comes to successful entrepreneurs.

According to Walter Derzko, consultant and entrepreneurship educator, “Thanks to cheap bandwidth, online advertising, broadband access and the ability to spread ideas through blogs or social networks, even younger people with little funding and few connections have been starting Internet-related companies in recent years.”

Additionally, because of the integration of online social networks and other technologies into their lives, “Many (teen entrepreneurs) discover big online business ideas before seasoned entrepreneurs do,” says Entrepreneur’s Alexa Vaughn.

Business building and development resources are also targeting teen entrepreneurship.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and Junior Achievement (JA) have joined forces to help young people through the processes of starting and running a business: MindYourOwnBiz.org.

With all the opportunities available and developing for young people, there’s no minimum age requirement for entrepreneurship.
