Social Entrepreneurship: Business Strategies For Change

If you are familiar at all with the Polaris Project you know that it was started to eradicate the human trafficking industry.  Social entrepreneurship has become more popular in the past 10 years due to the success of such entrepreneurs and their organizations.

While social entrepreneurs aren’t “in it” for the money typically, they still find themselves dealing with the same challenges as a for profit business.

Derek Ellerman and Katherine Chon, who started the Polaris Project in 2002, had to do their research, check out the competition and come up with a comprehensive business plan.

As well as financial considerations, social entrepreneurs also measure success by what kind of impact their organization is having socially and environmentally.

An organization needs to be financially successful to continue making an impact and solving social ills.  The ultimate goals for most of these organizations are to implement innovative means to create and inspire others to make change.
