What A Teen Entrepreneur Can Teach You
The teen entrepreneur may face some challenges and unusual circumstances that your older and more seasoned entrepreneur may not have to deal with.
Raising funds can be a challenge and knowing where to put the money you have can make or break your business.
Entrepreneur did an interview with teen entrepreneur Ben Cathers who was just 12 when he started his first business venture, a web marketing and advertising firm geared towards teenagers.
Cathers offered some very practical advice to young and new entrepreneurs.
Cathers stated that many new entrepreneurs make two common mistakes when launching their new business ideas.
1. Spending too little on marketing and advertising – making the assumption that advertising is just advertising regardless of what type of advertising you do or who it’s geared to. The goal isn’t to spend a lot but to market effectively for your business niche.
2. Not knowing who their target market is. When you don’t know who your target market is, all your efforts are a shot in the dark, and your results are going to be limited.
The key for any entrepreneur is to have a plan, do your research and then set some goals. Whether you are 17 or 71 these are some rules in business that never change.

Kelvin,
Thanks for sharing some important insights. I agree that there are specific things that may vary for entrepreneurs at different stages in life, but the fundamentals of entrepreneurship are universal.
Older entrepreneurs, such as the baby boomers with whom I especially like to work, can learn a lot from the points presented by the young entrepreneur in this post. Knowing who your target audience is, how to find them, and how to effectively communicate with them are the starting points of entrepreneurship.
