Are You Using Twitter In Your Business Strategy?

You might not think of microblogging as a business strategy… Curtis Kimball, a small business owner might disagree with you, however.  Kimball owns and operates a crème brûlée cart in San Francisco.

When interviewed by the New York Times, Kimball admitted that he wished he could say he had a brilliant idea or strategy to attribute to his success, but really Twitter has been central to Kimball’s prosperity.

Microblogging has become a key advertising strategy for small businesses with a small or no advertising budget.

With Twitter you get a free service with a potential audience of millions of users.

For Kimball, he uses Twitter to let customers know where he’ll be each day with his crème brûlée cart.

Twitter is also becoming a substitute for small businesses who don’t have a website.  With Twitter, there is no application to learn or software to install.  You don’t need software support or a graphic designer, you just sign up for an account and go.

Twitter is a great way to let customers find you, but also to find suppliers.   Using the search tool on the Twitter site can help you locate other users by location or keyword search.
