Social Networking Isn’t Just For The Young Entrepreneur

If you haven’t signed up for a Facebook or Twitter account yet don’t be surprised if someone older than you already has.  Young Entrepreneur recently published an article citing the popularity of social networking accounts among baby boomers.

According to Forrester Research 67% of those 43 to 52 years old are avid consumers of socially created content.  It may be easy to assume this age group is passively reading material only – checking out photos or playing Scrabble, but actually this group is creating original material like blog articles.

This being said, for those entrepreneurs targeting audiences by various categories, age should most definitely be included.

Social media is the fastest growing channel for reaching consumers.  With so many individuals reaching out for information using widely available technology, there is no excuse for not taking advantage of so many social networking sites.

Sites such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace are popular worldwide because they are free, because they allow individuals to connect and they provide information – instantaneously.

Whatever your reason for taking part in social networking, connect with other users, it will give you an edge and enhance your business – regardless of your age.
