Women Entrepreneur: One Challenge At A Time

Not long ago, Bonnie Price from After 55, posted a blog post specifically geared toward women entrepreneurs (but also applies to all entrepreneurs…)

Price brought up the idea that women especially are called on to multi-task.  When duty calls, women, mothers, sisters, daughters and of course entrepreneurs rise to the occasion.

Unfortunately, this constant expectation of being readily available 24/7 can make it difficult for one to focus on an individual task.

Because of the advances of technology, email access at your fingertips and cell phones with great coverage, many professionals are expected to be available at all hours of the day 7 days a week.  This not only makes it difficult to work a “regular” schedule, but it can make it almost painful to ignore virtual pleas from clients or co-workers.

Price suggests that instead of attempting to focus on so many tasks at once, you try to focus on one task at a time, devoting all of your time and energy at that moment to that one task.  The idea is that when you focus on one responsibility at a time, you’ll be more efficient and perform at a higher level because you’ve decreased your level of distraction.

No matter what industry you’re in, this may be an idea that proves useful for you and may even boost your productivity.  Feel free to pass it on, but please, one task at a time.
